Samādhi Pāda · Sutra 48

ऋतम्भरा तत्र प्रज्ञा

ṛtambharā tatra prajñā

There, wisdom bears truth.

Ṛtambharā prajñā is an extraordinary term: wisdom (prajñā) that bears (bharā) cosmic truth (ṛta). This knowledge is infallible, direct, not mediated by the senses or ordinary intellect.

Ṛta in Vedic tradition is the cosmic order, the fundamental truth of the universe. When the mind reaches the stabilized state of nirvicāra, it has direct access to this truth.

This knowledge is not accumulated information but direct intuition. It sees things as they really are, beyond the distortions of the ordinary mind. It is the faculty of discernment in its purest expression.
