परिणामैकत्वाद्वस्तुतत्त्वम्

pariṇāmaikatvādvastutattvam

The reality of an object is due to the unity of transformation.

Although guṇas are in constant change, objects maintain a recognizable identity. This is because their transformations follow a unified and coherent pattern.

Pariṇāma ekatva means “unity of transformation.” An object is not a random collection of changes but a coherent sequence maintaining continuity.

A seed transforms into sprout, then plant, then tree. Although each stage is different, there is a thread of identity connecting them. The “reality” (tattva) of the object is this continuity of transformation.

For Sāṅkhya-Yoga, objects are not static substances but dynamic processes with internal coherence. What we call “thing” is really a pattern of change.

This understanding helps release attachment: we don’t cling to permanent substances but to transitory patterns. Everything flows, though maintaining recognizable form temporarily.
