Sādhana Pāda · Sutra 27
तस्य सप्तधा प्रान्तभूमिः प्रज्ञा
tasya saptadhā prāntabhūmiḥ prajñā
The wisdom of that person develops in seven final stages.
The prajñā (wisdom) of one who cultivates viveka matures gradually through seven levels.
Commentators offer different lists. Vyāsa describes:
- What should be known about suffering is recognized.
- The causes of suffering are eliminated.
- Cessation is experienced in samādhi.
- The means (viveka) is firmly established.
The last three stages are:
- Buddhi fulfills its purpose.
- The guṇas cease their activity.
- Puruṣa remains in its nature.
Prāntabhūmi means “final stage” or “boundary ground.” These are the terminal phases of the path, not initial steps.
