Sādhana Pāda · Sutra 45

समाधिसिद्धिरीश्वरप्रणिधानात्

samādhisiddhirīśvarapraṇidhānāt

From surrender to Īśvara arises perfection of samādhi.

Īśvara praṇidhāna completely established leads directly to samādhi-siddhi, the perfection of meditative absorption.

This is the devotional shortcut. While other methods work gradually purifying the mind, total surrender dissolves the ego in one stroke.

When “I” stop striving and surrender completely, the main obstacle—the sense of separation—dissolves.

Īśvara praṇidhāna appears three times in the Yoga Sutras: as part of kriyā yoga (2.1), as a niyama (2.32), and now as a direct path to samādhi.

It is the recognition that grace plays a role. Not everything depends on personal effort; there is a dimension that transcends us and responds to openness.
